AZ=Nazi?

The “Support Our Law Enforcement and Safe Neighborhoods Act,” Arizona SB1070 was recently signed by Governor Jan Brewer. This Law allows police to investigate the residency status of anyone they suspect may be an illegal immigrant. This has caused uproar throughout the country. There have been many protests, like this one:

However, the form of protest that stuck out to me most was this one:

Although it's considered a hate crime or vandalism, it still sends a very powerful message.

  1. i just wanted to say that Mario Solis Marich (from AM760) has a facebook fan group called: Boycott the Police State Known as Arizona. Here's the link: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=109283845773785

  2. I think this sent a very strong message, but agree that the tactic may be questionable. It's so hard- on the one hand I don't want to say that vandalism should be used as a form of protest, but it achieved its goal of getting news coverage and becoming a national story.

    This issue is difficult for me to personally discuss without bias because my family immigrated here from Mexico. I'm third generation (and we're all here legally), but I still can't help but be terrified of a law that so clearly allows and encourages racial profiling, even if the Governor insists is doesn't.

    What does everyone else think? What may be a way to get the exact same message across without defacing government property?
